Having a little fun
We work hard at what we do, and we pull together to make sure we exceed the customers expectations. So once in a while we need to take a break and have a little fun - at lunchtime. With some kind of a theme, we all participate, and the company provides the lunch, organized by one of the departments. A recent event was a Chili SOUPER BOWL Day. One of the company owners donned an apron and served up his award winning chili. The feat took a dozen crock pots and a weekend to prepare. And employees always look forward to our annual Halloween luncheon, with prizes for the best costume.
Employees have an opportunity to volunteer for a twenty–three (23) point blood test evaluation. Participants register directly with the Lab and testing is conducted during work time. The program is free to employees covered by the company health care plan. Employee spouses can also participate at a company subsidized rate. The testing is completely confidential and written reports are sent to participant’s home address. Participants also earn Vitality Bucks for their participation.
Lunch & Learn Monthly Corporate Wellness Lecture Series
Throughout the year, SunTel invites a Certified Dietician/Nutritionist to speak on health-related topics. It is a known fact that healthy living can improve everyone’s quality of life. For that reason SunTel promotes many wellness initiatives throughout the year. Employee comments on the program include: “I learn something new each lecture. The Lunch & Learn lecture series has been very informative, a lot of fun, and the healthy food has been great.”
Fitness Assessment Program
Step up on a bench in time with a metronome for 3 minutes and earn Vitality Bucks. The program is conducted during work by a Certified Physical Trainer. At the end of the three minute workout participant’s heart rate will be measured, confidential written results and BMI information is provided to all participants. Spouses are welcome to attend. All participants can wear workout attire for the day.
Support for Charities
Each year SunTel identifies a charity needing assistance and support. The goal is to identify a group that does not receive publicity or media attention, but has a real need for assistance. This year SunTel participated in an Adopt-a-Family Program sponsored by the Military Community at Selfidge Air National Guard Base and the Financial Readiness Program Detroit Arsenal. The program provides temporary assistance to the Military community and their families living in Michigan. With the recent deployment of active and reserve troops, many Michigan military families were experiencing financial hardship. Our heart -filled thanks went out to the men and women who had to leave their civilian jobs for deployment to combat zones around the world.
Our support was a small token of appreciation to those who defend our freedom.
